FINAL THOUGHTS! As of Thursday March14th this location will permanently close at end of business. On this my final visit I took a seat in the bar a fire was burning in the fireplace . The bartender was doing double duty as waiter . He was professional and friendly. My drink was made well and served promptly. I ordered the rolled taco plate. Six pieces two chicken two beef and two veggies. With dipping sauce. Rice , beans and corn cake. I don't care for the black beans or the corn cake it is not the preparation just my preferences . Not too long ago El torito dimly gave this location an overhaul with new Flooring, paint, landscaping and a patio . So the closure was something of a surprise. The closest El torito is Lakewood Mall. The same parent co owns Solita, & Acapulco . Be kind to the staff who have served you in the final days most are not being offered positions at other locations but just unemployment.
It was taco Tuesday and I wanted some tacos I had gone to a few places in Downtown LA but for some reason the 3 places I went to were closed. I figured I could go to El Torito , I did not mind the drive to Bixby knolls to try out the EL Torito on Atlantic it was worth it the food was great the service was a little slow but the wait staff was very nice the drinks tasted good not to strong but flavorful I had a mojito flight the spicy margarita was perfect I recommend this place any day of the week but on Tuesday taco bar is 3 dollars a taco and happy hour is extended until 10;30pm

After listening to a podcast that recommended the top 3 chips & salsa situation in LA, I have been wanting to go to a place that serves complimentary chips and salsa. Seeing that this place still had a lunch buffet as well sold me on giving it a try. Walking in, the hostess greeted me right away and took me to my table. She asked if I was doing the buffet and told me to I could start eating. The ambience sort of feels like if Olive Garden served Mexican food, with fake stucco/adobe huts and walls. It's sort of charmingly tacky. For a lunch buffet, there was a decent selection of food. It included a taco salad bar (with the fried tortilla bowls), a taco bar with your choice of carnitas, steak or chicken, rice, beans, corn pudding, chile colorado, chile verde and fajitas, plus a selection of desserts. I tried everything except the taco salad, and everything tasted pretty good. They make the tortillas fresh behind the buffet and grill them to order. Everything is behind a plexiglass and the staff will serve your food. The best item for me was the chile verde, especially after I asked for some flour tortillas, which they grilled hot and fresh. The tacos were not bad, but certainly pretty average when compared with taco stands. Skip the rice and beans, unless you feel they're absolutely necessary. For dessert, they had rice pudding, flan, and brownies. I really enjoyed the flan and even went back for seconds. The service was also very good, though it seemed like they only had one waiter for the entire place. He brought out my soda and refills quickly, and also brought by chips & salsa as well. (The salsa was unfortunately very bland though, so it didn't actually fill that craving). All in all, it was $15.99 for the buffet, so I felt it was a pretty good value.
Came here on a Sunday around 2:30. We went for Mother's Day but I made a rsvp beforehand on the phone. They couldn't find our reservation so I showed proof and they sat us. Once seated we got menus and chips and salsa. Chips tasted old so we ask for new ones which they did. Our server was really good despite attending the multiple tables. Didn't see much team effort especially for a packed day. All the food we order was good especially for price point. We ordered an additional plate which came when we were about to leave so they gave us free ice cream to make up for it lol just make sure to order everything from the beginning. They had TVs playing some sports which was nice and music.
